Creating a wedding checklist is a great way for a couple to plan out the long list of items that need to be taken care of prior to the wedding day. A lot of planning goes into the wedding itself, rehearsals, engagement parties and dinners, and the honeymoon. In order to avoid a potentially serious oversight and to ensure that all of the details are taken care of in the smoothest, timeliest manner, the bride and groom should consider putting together a thorough wedding checklist. The following checklist provides sample details that are often important aspects of wedding planning. Continue reading
Wedding Colors and Combinations for All Seasons
Once upon a time the principal wedding colors were white and black. The bride was dressed in white, the wedding bouquet was white, sometimes with a touch of green, and the groom wore black, or at least a dark suit. If there was any color at all it would usually be found in the bridesmaid’s dresses, which could be any color, but were all the same color. Continue reading
Having a baby is a very fulfilling thing any mother would dream about and long for. One really does not get to be a mother in all sense of the word, if one does not bring forth life unto this Earth. It is like being part of a miracle of life, a wondrous event that only they can be a part of. Now imagine giving birth to two infants at the same time. Now that is really an amazing thing, doubly amazing to be precise.
Well, as luck would have it, I happen to have twins myself and it was such a blessing for me to have two angels at one go. I can only imagine the other mothers who can’t even have one and here I am having two babies without really intending to. One can’t really describe that feeling of blessedness that comes along with having twins.
Am I now double the mother that I was originally supposed to be? Well I have to really, as it does need double the effort from me to raise them both at the same time. I already envisioned myself having a hard time raising a kid of my own, but to raise two of them, apparently that is out of my league already. Thankfully hubby is here to share the load.
Feeding time is really hectic as both of them seem to share only one mind, that whatever one wants, the other also wants. If one of them cries then you can be sure that the other will follow momentarily, good thing you just have to make one of them sleep as the other one will do too, most of the time.
We really were not expecting to have twins but we’re not complaining. It came as a wonderful shock to both my husband and I the last time we went for a checkup. We did not do ultrasound the first two trimesters of my pregnancy as we want the gender to be a surprise, little did we know that it was a girl apparently, but two of them.
We already bought the best pack n play for our baby to use, we already filled up two of the best lightweight luggage we can find full of baby implements, which thankfully was of the unisex variety, and we already have pre chosen baby names for both a boy and a girl for whatever comes out.
Now everything was a mess and everything had to be changed, as we have to make room for one more. The items we already bought were okay and we only had to buy another set of everything, which was fine.
But as I said, it was a rather wonderful development having twins. Now instead of one, we have two of the proposed four children that we were aiming for. We want to have a large family and this is definitely a giant step towards that. Who knows, maybe next time we can have triplets. Now that would be the day.
Having a job as a wedding planner makes me do what I like doing most. Back when I was a kid, my other sisters and I used to play weddings all the time and I always play the part of the wedding coordinator. I will do everything that we know about weddings back then, from setting up the altar and decorating everything with flowers and laces, to making them walk and act a certain way. We always had a blast doing it, even if we were all girls to start with.
Now that I am of age, I feel very lucky to have to bring it to real life and have it as a career of some sort. It does pay very well and it also fills a special space in my heart being able to do it in reality. I do not treat it as a job but as a passion of mine. The saying is true that you have to find what you like, do it, and you don’t have to work a day in your life, that’s me in a nutshell.
It does get rather hectic sometimes and the work to be done for every wedding is enormous. Fortunately I already learned how to take everything in stride and have already devised ways on how to go about it smoothly. I never get rattled as I am aware that problems do crop up when you least expect it and I take everything as it is. I also do have the best yoga DVD at my side always, just in case everything gets out of hand.
I already have collected an extensive resume of weddings that I took care of and every wedding that comes after is just a breeze. I have a master plan on how to go about doing weddings and all that is needed to be added are the special requests of the principals, which I’m afraid, are sometimes crazy and out of this world. But hey, it is their day and everything they wish for, I try my very hard to fulfill.
I too have most of the equipment needed to be a wedding planner and all the people connections that I will ever need. Need cakes? No problem as the cake people are just a phone call away. Honeymoon no problem. They can go anywhere they want to go as I have the best travel agent that is always happy to receive my queries.
Pictures are another area of concern as weddings need to be forever remembered through pictures and film. I also got that one covered as I do have my own team of photographers and cameramen available with a simple beck and call. Right now we are planning to buy the best travel tripod for use in those hard to fathom places that our clients seem to be gravitating to.
Everything that they want, I could give. I’ve been at it this long for me not to know anything with regards to how to make a wedding successfully happen. If you got a wedding coming up then don’t hesitate to give me a call and I will give you a wedding that you will remember for a long time, and that’s a promise. I’ll give you a discount too while we’re at it.
For most newlyweds, pregnancy can be considered as the next important milestone in their life, after the wedding ceremony. I am talking based on my own experience. After our wedding, my husband and I were so delighted at the thought of starting our own family. When it was confirmed that I was pregnant, we were so happy to hear the news.
I can say that my pregnancy is a relatively safe one with not much complications or problems. However, I had experienced having diarrhea during pregnancy and it was the most annoying moment for me that time. I don’t like to take any medications because I was afraid it might have a negative side effect on the baby.
Aside from diarrhea, I know of some other common illnesses that can affect pregnant women. And it would be good to know what they are and be familiar with their home remedies. Home remedies are generally safer during pregnancies because they normally have no known side effects.
There are different causes of diarrhea among pregnant women and include food poisoning, hormonal changes, dietary alterations, and intolerance to certain foods or vitamin supplements. Symptoms may include frequent visits to the bathroom and abdominal cramps. Among the most effective remedies for diarrhea are ginger root and honey. You could boil one cup water with one piece of crushed ginger root. Steep it for about 15 minutes and then strain the ginger tea. Let it cool then drink to relieve the upset stomach. You could also drink it after meals to help in digestion. As an alternative, you could also prepare a mixture of one glass water with four tablespoons of honey.
Dealing with constipation during pregnancy may be similar with dealing with toddler constipation. It can be easily remedied by eating foods that are high in fiber and drinking plenty of water. You have constipation if you discharge less frequently than your normal routine. If you are taking in iron supplements, it may be one of the causes for your constipation. Ask your doctor if it is possible to skip on the supplements or to find an alternative.
Most pregnant women experience cramps especially at night during sleeping time. Cramps are a sharp and sudden pain affecting the calf muscles. It is still unknown what really causes cramps but researches have some ideas on how they can be prevented or can ease the symptoms. Cramps can be prevented with gentle but regular exercises involving leg movement. To ease the cramps if already happening, hard rubbing or massaging on the affected muscles while trying your best to relax them will do the trick.
Because of hormonal changes, most pregnant women often feel faint. It happens when the brain does not receive enough oxygen that it needs. Feeling faint normally happens when you suddenly get up from a sitting or lying down position. You can avoid this feeling by slowly getting up from your original position. If you are already feeling faint, simply sit down again and wait for the feeling to subside.
If you are planning to get pregnant or are already pregnant, knowing these common pregnancy problems as well as their remedies can help you overcome them without taking any medication. But it is important to note that if symptoms persist despite trying the home remedies, consult your doctor.
While some brides prefer to just hire people to see most aspects of the ceremony and reception like decorating, flower arranging and others, some brides really like to be hands-on with their wedding preparations and would like to help out as much as possible. In my years of experience as a wedding planner, I have met a few brides who have this personality. They just like to be involved and to be part of every aspect of the preparation. This is okay. However, utmost care must be exercised at all times.
You don’t like to appear on your wedding day on crutches because you met an accident during preparation. Accidents do happen for those who are not careful. And one of the most common accidents is falling which may result to hip flexor strain. If you have that, you may have to endure hip flexor pain on your wedding, which can be extremely painful. In some instances, patients will have to undergo surgery which may entail observing anterior hip precautions afterwards. And this is something anyone doesn’t like to experience because it means being unable to do what you usually do.
Although hip flexor strain is common among athletes, it may also happen to ordinary people due to accidents, like when you fall from a certain height and it impacts the hip area. It can also happen if you are excessively bending or straining your hips. Symptoms include pain in the front hips or in the groin area and possible swelling.
If you are already experiencing the symptoms of hip flexor strain, you need to rest immediately to avoid further damage. Do not do any strenuous activity for the next 48 hours because your hip flexor needs time to heal. If the pain is too extreme, you may take over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or aspirin. You could also wear compression wrap bandage or shorts to soothe the symptoms. If your injury is just mild, you may be able to recover from it within one week. For more severe injuries, it may take two to six weeks to fully recover.
Once the symptoms of the strain have subsided, there are also precautions that you must observe to prevent the strain from coming back. These include avoiding activities that can put too much pressure on your hip area. You should also do proper strengthening and stretching exercises as recommended by your therapist. If the pain recurs for no reason during this period, you should seek medical help. Longstanding or recurring pain in the hip flexor or groin area may indicate a more serious hip problem which needs a doctor’s attention. If the movement becomes really difficult, you may also have to use crutches.
The complications that you may experience from a simple fall may cause you unexpected inconvenience and discomfort during your wedding. That is why I strongly advice brides or even grooms to let others take charge of the preparations. And if you are still planning for your wedding, you may learn an important lesson from this article.
Marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and childcare. These are just some of the things that most married women would be able to experience at certain point in their life. And I have already experienced them all as I became a mother of my two darling twin daughters.
Among the things I experienced, I had some hard time while breasfeeding. They say that just like when a woman is pregnant, whatever you eat, drink or do during this stage could affect the health of your nursing child. I also printed and followed the list of foods to avoid while breastfeeding. I was very careful with my diet. I also made sure I am not overly stressed from work. Aside from that, I also have to deal with period while breastfeeding. I originally thought that as long as I am breastfeeding exclusively, my period will not yet return. But this is not the case for me because I already had my menstruation several months after childbirth even if I was breastfeeding.
Many women especially first time moms have no clear understanding about menstruation while breastfeeding. For a woman, delaying menstruation means enjoying temporary birth control. It also means getting relief from the discomfort of having your regular period such as menstrual cramps and all the hassles. That is why I understand why many women would frown at having their menstruation back just weeks after childbirth.
The period in which breastfeeding suppresses your period is called lactational menorrhea. It could vary from one mother to another and from one pregnancy to another. You could have six months of lactational menorrhea on your first child and just three months on your second child. And nobody knows for sure how long it can be on your next child. But several factors could possibly affect its return. This include the frequency that you are nursing your baby, the introduction of supplemental foods, and the mother’s own chemistry among others.
I have read an article which teaching nursing mothers some techniques on how to delay their menstruation. One of the techniques mentioned is to breastfeed the baby on demand. It is recommended to nurse your baby at least 6 times a day and six times at night. one of the reasons why many mothers have their periods very soon is that they neglect feeding at nighttime because of the inconvenience of waking up in the middle of the night. Even if your child is not asking for milk, you should still encourage it to feed by putting your nipple in its mouth. Another technique that is helpful to many moms is to start introducing solid foods only when the baby is already six month old. During the first six month, do not allow bottle feeding or the use of a pacifier.
However, while you are observing these techniques, you should already expect your period to be back anytime soon especially if it has been delayed for several months. Once it has returned, you should take precautions against pregnancy if you don’t intend to get pregnant yet. One good thing though is that having menstruation does not put an end to your milk supply. You can still breastfeed your baby as long as you like.
Have you ever had huge pimples under your skin? Most people grow pimples outside their skin. Although this type of pimple is unsightly, they are not as painful as having them under the skin. You may be able to conceal your pimples if they are under your skin, but they are rather painful and can make you feel really uncomfortable. In worse cases, they can grow to be so big that they can make a part of your face look swollen.
Pimples are something all women do not like to have on their wedding day. What I recommend to brides who have pimples on their wedding day is to conceal them with makeup. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not, especially if there are just too many pimples to cover. But pimples especially those under the skin can be easily remedied with some of the ingredients that you can find in your pantry. If you have a wedding coming up and are dealing with this kind of pimple, you could simply pick from any of these remedies:
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Swabbing apple cider vinegar over your blemish may do the trick. After swabbing, don’t rinse off the vinegar immediately. Let it stay for about 10 minutes before rinsing. Do this twice a day. This remedy is only applicable for one or two pimples. Don’t make the mistake of applying undiluted vinegar all over your face because the acid in it might burn your face and could worsen your problem.
2. Lemon Juice
Instead of apple cider vinegar, you could use fresh lemon juice instead. Do not rinse it, but let it stay overnight and then rinse in the morning. Remember that applying lemon can make your skin sensitive to the sun so be sure to just do it at night and don’t forget to rinse in the morning.
You could also apply mustard over your pimple. Be sure to read the label and look for salicylic acid as an ingredient. Mustard is also rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin C, and other components that are suitable for your skin. Leave it for about 15 minutes and then rinse. As a substitute to mustard sauce, you could also use a mixture of 1/8 teaspoon mustard powder and one teaspoon honey.
4. Green Tea
Prepare some strong green tea and then freeze it into ice cubes. Rub the cube over the area with pimples for several minutes for as long as you can hold the cube. Green tea has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that are good for your skin.
Tomatoes are rich in antioxidant properties and can also act as skin astringent. Cut open a tomato and then rub the cut part directly over the pimple. Let it stay for about 10 minutes then rinse. Do it once or twice a day only, since excessive application may cause dryness to the skin.
Unlike skin tear, scabs and other skin problems that may be difficult to treat, pimples are more manageable. Before your wedding or other special occasion is coming up, you may still have time to get rid of your pimples with some of the ingredients we listed here.
Who would like to be sick on their wedding day? Certainly, all couples would like to be on top of their health during this joyous occasion. That is why many soon-to-be-weds exercise caution in all their activities to avoid accidents or getting sick prior to their event.
However, there are certain illnesses that could just strike anytime without prior notice. One of them is pleural effusion. By itself, it is not something you should worry about because it may simply go away unnoticed. But there are cases when it needs treatment to avoid complications.
Pleural effusion refers to the abnormal buildup of fluid in lungs. There are several factors that can cause pleural effusion such as heart problems, pneumonia, liver disease, kidney problems, respiratory disease, autoimmune disease, and several other conditions. Aside from these diseases, pleural effusion may also result from outside factors such as stress, smoking, using illegal drugs, inhaling toxins like ammonia and other home cleaning agents, a near-drowning experience, and being constantly in high altitudes.
Pleural effusion is caused by an underlying sickness and is something you cannot avoid. What you can avoid are those outside factors. Don’t be so stressed out about your wedding preparations to avoid health risk complications including liquid buildup in the lungs. When you are hands-on on your wedding preparations, be sure to have a wedding coordinator who will absorb the pressure and stress. Also, avoid exposure to toxins when preparing your decoration. If you smoke, try to limit it because stress plus smoking can lower your immune system and put you at risk with various health problems.
More often, less serious pleural effusion does not manifest noticeable symptoms. But in some cases where the condition is more severe, several symptoms might be noticeable such as chest pain, shortness of breath, cough and fever. If you start noticing any of these symptoms and you know that you had any of the underlying conditions or have been exposed to outside factors, it is important for you to see your doctor immediately. Aside from these symptoms, your doctor might also perform a series of physical examinations or may request you to undergo certain tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Once diagnosed that you have fluid buildup in the lungs, there might be a need to give you oxygen to aid in breathing. Your doctor may also recommend certain medications that can restore normal breathing. If you like natural remedies, you could also use natural antihistamine that can be found in various herbs and pantry ingredients such as garlic.
Prevention is always worth more than all kinds of cure or treatments. It is possible to avoid pleural effusion and other health problems that may affect you while your wedding day is coming. In all stages of wedding preparation, your health should always be your top priority. Don’t compromise on your health by too much stress and busyness. After all, what is the use of all your preparations if your wedding cannot push through because you are in the hospital due to sickness?
Dogs especially poodle mixes like Yorkie poodle are now gaining in popularity in wedding and photo shoots. Many pet owners would like to give their dogs a special role on their wedding day such as being the ring bearer or flower girl. I have witnessed this in a number of occasions when I planned weddings before. If you are considering this unique concept, it is important that you know about pet grooming which is needed for this special occasion.
You like your dog to smell good on that special day and bathing is the most basic grooming method you should do.
Bathing dogs is generally done once every month, but it will not harm your dog if you bath it once a week. When bathing your dog, use a shampoo that is intended for them. If your veterinarian recommends a specific shampoo for your dog depending on its coat and skin, then use that shampoo and follow any special instructions for bathing.
If you are going to get married in a few days, getting sick or injured is something you want to avoid. You don’t want to ruin the most important day of your life just because you cannot walk down the aisle due to a sprain or foot injury. Similarly, you don’t like bothered during your big day because of a tooth or gum pain.
Sometime ago on one of the weddings I was organizing, the bride experienced extreme pain in her gums. In fact, when I checked it, the upper gum was really swollen. And it was not there the day before. She still managed to finish the ceremony until the reception and pretended as if she was not feeling the pain. But I knew she just endured it so that her wedding will be a success.
Every time I think about that awkward situation, I always thought I wished I was able to help her during that moment. But I don’t know anything about pain relief for painful gums. What I know is tooth pain relief.
When people think about dental wellness, most of the attention is on preventing cavities and making sure that their teeth are healthy. But caring for the gums is just as important. And a painful gum may just feel as painful as a toothache. So if you are doing your best to avoid a toothache, you should also do your best to avoid gum problems.
It is estimated that over three-fourths of Americans age 35 and above have or had periodontal disease, otherwise known as gum disease. While most of these patients suffer from a less severe form of gum disease called gingivitis, around five to 15 percent suffer from a more serious condition called periodontitis.
One of the common causes of gingivitis is the lack of proper dental hygiene. When a person does not brush her teeth thoroughly after eating, this promotes bacterial growth in the mouth. Some of these bacteria may cause gums to become inflamed, resulting to bleeding or swollen gums. So, if you always forget to brush amidst your busyness, or worst, always sleep without brushing your teeth, you are at risk of developing gum disease.
Fortunately for those with gingivitis, this condition is not really painful and it is also treatable. Be sure to see your dentist and start with proper oral hygiene. However, if you continue on with poor oral hygiene, your condition might worsen and could possibly advance into periodontitis, or it may cause you to lose your teeth.
Some of the symptoms of gingivitis to watch out for include shifting or loose teeth, bad taste in the mouth, persistent bad breath, bleeding gums during and after brushing, receding gums, tender gums, and red or swollen gums. You should also carefully observe if your teeth start to form deep pockets in between, or if there are changes in the way your teeth bites. These are serious symptoms of a gum disease that needs immediate medical attention.
One of the most exciting realities about planning a wedding is that you get to experiment with different concepts that can make the entire celebration unique and more memorable. And I just love unusual concepts such as letting the bride ride on a horse-drawn carriage than in a bridal car, or getting your dog to be the ring bearer instead of a child.
Nowadays, there is an increasing popularity of having dogs in wedding ceremonies. Many pet owners who consider their dogs as part of the family are willing to train them to perform important roles in their weddings such as being part of the entourage as the ring or flower bearer. In most cases, when a dog is present in the wedding, it becomes a memorable occasion for everyone.
If you are looking into the possibility of also including your dog in your wedding ceremony, there are several important factors that you should take into consideration. Add these to your checklist:
If you were able to train your pet to be sociable, obedient and well-behaved around other people, then you will have no problem in training your pet for a specific role in the wedding. Most breeds of dogs can be trained for this. But I find a teacup Pomeranian as among the cutest dogs for weddings. But you should know that even well-trained dogs can be overwhelmed by a big crowd, causing them to misbehave unexpectedly.
Confirm if Dogs Are Allowed in the Facility
You don’t like to show up in your wedding with a dog as a flower girl or ring bearer only to be informed that dogs are not allowed in the facility. Be sure to confirm this first before even considering giving your dog a role in the wedding.
Hiring a Pet Sitter
During your wedding, you will be busy with entertaining guests among other things, and you may not be able to look after your dog before, during or after the ceremony. It would be good to hire a pet sitter who will serve as your dog’s companion and guide on what to do during that time.
Inform Your Guests
Inform your guests through your wedding invitation or wedding website that you will have a dog present during the ceremony. This information can be helpful for guests with allergies so that they can prepare accordingly.
At least one week before the wedding, bring your pet to the veterinarian for a checkup to ensure that it is in good health. Be sure that it is not suffering from dog ear infection(more info here), skin diseases, or any other serious illnesses; otherwise you may have to pursue an alternative plan.
Inform Your Photographer
Request your photographer in advance to capture your dog in action. It is a rare and unique opportunity for you and your dog, and it would be good to have your best moments captured.
While many facilities may allow dogs in wedding ceremonies, some locations may not. If that is your case, you may instead just have your dog present during the photo shoots. That way, your dog can still be a part of the special occasion.
As a mother myself, it worries me to see bruises on my children. All the more if I have no idea what causes them. I am just glad that when I asked our paediatrician about those bruises, she says that it is sometimes normal for children to have them especially if they are very active.
Bruises are bluish-purple spots you see on your child’s skin, which turn into a yellow- greenish or brown color days after and lasting about a week or two. These spots are caused by damaged blood vessels bleeding under the skin.
There are many things that can cause bruises on children. Now, should unexplained bruising concern us parents? Here are some causes that we need to look into(http://www.unexplainedbruising.net):
1. Falls, Bumps & Injuries – These are common causes of bruises on children. Kids, in general, are very active. My kids love to climb trees, run around playing ball, tag or hide-and-seek that accidental stumbling or bumping into things are likely bound to happen. There would be instances when I would notice a bruise and ask them about it, and they don’t even remember. All they know was they were having a great time playing! So, how would we know if it is something serious?
Bruises from accidents like these are usually located at the shin, legs, knees or oftentimes, the forehead. As long as the bruise is flat and not larger than a size of a quarter, we have nothing to worry about.
2. Physical Abuse -These kinds of bruises are a serious problem that needs attention. If the bruises are severe and are on unusual locations such as the back, the neck, upper arms, buttocks, thighs, ears, face or even in the genitalia, or has a distinct mark or shape, like a hanger, a belt, or a stick, then your child might be physically abused. It is important to call the attention of authorities immediately for this case.
3. Other underlying health conditions – if your child has had unexplained bruising more often than he or she normally had before, it is best to consult your doctor. It could be a symptom of an underlying illness such as leukemia, hemophilia, Vitamin K deficiency, Von Willebrand disease, cancer or other related conditions.
Though bruises eventually heal up on their own, they would heal more quickly and reduce the swelling with the help of an ice or any bag of frozen vegetable wrapped in a clean cloth and placing it over the bruise. After two days, apply hot compress two to three times a day for 10 minutes. Taking medications like Ibuprofen or aspirin can worsen and prolong the clot.
Children will always like to play. It’s in their nature. They would always enjoy running, jumping, climbing and discovering things. Therefore, it is up to us, as parents, to take some precautionary measures such as advising your child to slow down and always be careful. Also keep an eye on them while playing. If you have a child who has the tendency to keep falling, let him or her use some elbow and knee pads and a helmet when playing sports. Remember, safety comes first. So keep safe!
As I was randomly browsing through the Internet for pet ideas for my family, I came upon this website that discusses raising exotic pets such as hedgehogs. They became a popular choice because of their unique appearance and easy-care requirements. Hedgehogs as pets are more suitable for busy households like ours because they don’t need much attention. Most importantly, they can also entertain children as they would normally play and do basic tricks in their playground.
But unlike dogs which you can feed with store-bought dog foods, I wonder what to feed hedgehogs if ever I get one as a pet.
Hedgehogs are insectivores which mean they feed primarily on insects. In the wild, they are known as opportunistic eaters because they also eat mollusks such as snails and worms, ground beetles, slugs, caterpillars, crickets, small animals and vegetation. This information is an important consideration when raising a hedgehog as a pet.
When raising a hedgehog as a domestic pet, you need to feed it with foods that hedgehogs commonly eat in the wild. You can easily find some insects in your garden as its food. However, during summer or winter when these crawlies become scarce, your pet will benefit from supplemental feeding of commercial hedgehog foods. Look for feeds that contain chitin which is a material present in the exoskeleton of insects. Many breeders consider this material as a vital component of a hedgehog diet. Canned or freeze-dried waxworms, mealworms and crickets may also be available and you can use them as treats. But if hedgehog food is not available, you can also use low fat and high in protein cat food as a substitute. You could also feed your pet with table foods such as cooked lean mean in small portions.
Basically, hedgehog daily diet should be composed of a combination of any of the following:
- Meat-based high quality dog or cat food
- Unsalted crushed or chopped peanuts
- Dried mealworms
- Small amount of dried fruits and vegetables
- Sunflower hearts
As hedgehogs are lactose intolerant, avoid giving your pet dairy products especially milk because they may cause stomach problems on your pet. But occasionally, you could give low-fat plain yogurt which contains healthy bacteria that process lactose. Also avoid foods that have added sugar and insects that were caught in the wild or using bait because they may contain traces of insecticides that can be harmful to your pet. It is best if you have your own garden where you can get them.
Hedgehogs have the tendency to be obese. So if you notice that your pet is gaining much weight, you could start cutting back on high fat foods and encourage it to play or exercise. Doing so can also help your pet lower its risk of developing a fatty liver disease which is common among these animals.
From what I read in several sources, hedgehogs have a unique diet composed of a combination of insects, meat, fruits and vegetables. It is important that pet owners should give their pet the right nutrition for their overall health and to avoid obesity and certain health conditions.
Have you experienced having a period while pregnant? How about having a period while lactating? If your answer to these questions are no, then perhaps you will say yes if I will ask you if you have experienced dealing with conditions such as newborn hiccups. These are just some of the common problems mothers have to deal with in connection with pregnancy or childbirth.
I am also a mother of twins and can relate to what many women have experienced. When my twins were newly born, I also experienced waking up at night to their cry. More often, they were just hungry but there were also times when their cry was because of hiccups. Among the various pregnancy and parenthood problems, dealing with hiccups for me is one of the most challenging because they are pretty unpredictable. You will not know when they will happen and why. I’m just glad my girls never experienced a serious problem in connection with their hiccups. But I heard of some infants who did.
Now, should you worry about hiccups on infants? Hiccups are more common among newborns and infants who are under one year and the frequency diminishes as they mature. The problem normally occurs after feeding and can last for several minutes up to an hour. Some leading pediatricians assert that infant hiccups are caused by feeding or by a sudden drop in the temperature of the surroundings. They are generally considered to be harmless so parents should have nothing to worry about. However, if hiccups become persistent and are accompanied by coughing and irritability and are already interfering your baby’s feeding and sleeping, that could be a serious problem. It could be a sign of GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease. In such case, you should see your doctor.
Although hiccups are not something parents should panic about, they are still something that must be remedied because hiccups cause some discomforts on your baby. More often, they could disrupt sleep or cause spitting. One of the simplest things you can do is to keep your baby upright for at least 20 minutes after feeding. You could also try giving your baby smaller foods but more frequently, to avoid acid reflux which is one of the major causes of hiccups. Also, letting your baby burp after feeding is important especially if you are feeding on bottles. If despite doing these tips you still notice frequent hiccups on your baby and are really worried about, you may consult your doctor for some advice.
Hiccups are a common occurrence among infants. I know this not only because I have read about them and experienced them with my twins but also because I also talked with many parents who experienced the same problem with their babies. When my twins were newly born, they had frequent hiccups. As they matured, the hiccups became less frequent. And I can understand why some parents will immediately panic if their baby has hiccups because I too panicked at first. But now, I already know that as long as your baby is breathing, feeding and sleeping normally, you should not worry about hiccups.
Even when I was still single, I am already conscious about my diet. In particular, I watch my daily carbohydrate consumption to avoid weight gain. And I know of many people who are also as conscious as I am in their daily carbohydrate intake. This is especially true among adults who are trying to lose extra pounds or maintain their body weight.
Like any other minerals and nutrients, carbohydrates play an important role in maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. They are considered to be energy-giving foods. However, carbohydrate intake should be taken in strict moderation. Otherwise, you may break your diet regimen.
While you want to maintain your ideal body weight, you also need to fill your body’s need for energy. You have to avoid consuming foods that are high in bad carbs such as foods with high sugar content, rice, cereals, pastas, potatoes, beans, bran and other refined grains. Instead, you should consume low carb fruits and low carb vegetables. These type of foods offer many health benefits to your body:
Stable energy levels
While you are cautiously checking your weight, a great feeling of your overall well-being will be manifested as you are becoming energetic, vibrant and healthy just as your low-carb diet healthily works and affects your body physically.
Many studies reveal that low-carb and Mediterranean diets were found better and more effective than the low-fat diet in weight loss. Moreover, overweight and obese people who are under a low-carb diet have the tendency to reduce spontaneous food intake, which in turn helps improve their general health and cardiovascular condition.
Lower risk of heart disease and diabetes
Another benefit of consuming fruits and vegetables that are low in carb is that it lowers your risk of heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes. This is because these foods help lower the bad cholesterol in your body which are the main causes of many heart diseases and diabetes.
Insulin levels are reduced
Dropping carbohydrate intake would also mean decreasing the amount of insulin circulating in your plasma. As a result, more nutrients will be absorbed by your body cells. It also results in the suppression of hormones that liberate fat in your body.
Increase fat metabolism
Consuming fruits and vegies that are low in carbohydrates can lead your body to increase its fat metabolism. This is a stage when the body will burn-off more fats to be used as energy by the body.
Consuming fruits and vegetables that are low in carbohydrates offers many health benefits. They can help you maintain your level of energy, lose weight, prevent you from suffering certain diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, and help you increate your fat metabolism. All these health benefits lead to overall wellness.
There are many fruits and vegetables that you can consider if you are on a low carb diet. It is also important that you should know them so that you can watch your carbohydrate intake. And mind you, I have a list posted in our refrigerator to keep me reminded always.
